Google Adsense

Google Adsense Page

As you can see, this page has been set up to display Google Adsense Ads and gives you an insight into the most effective areas of a page in which to place them.
Check out the ads from my competition, I’m happy to display them as I’m better and cheaper than them!

Where is it best to put Google Adsense Ads?

From my experience, the most clicked ads are in 1 of 3 places. The area just below this paragraph is usually an effective area. A visitor may land on your site, has a read of the first paragraph of your landing page, then finds something that they perceive to be more interesting (don’t be offended) and click the Adsense ad.

Where else do visitors click ads?

Another great area for ad placement is in the top of your sidebars. I’ve placed a square image-rich ad at the top of the sidebar on the right of this page. This is a well-clicked advert, but do bear in mind people clicking this area may not have actually read any of your site yet. Whilst it is good for a quick click, this area isn’t very good when you are trying to get visitors deep into your site.

Another ad area that is worth a mention

This final successful ad area that I will mention here is at the bottom of some interesting material.

Can you keep your visitors interested?

Millions of people may read your pages, but only the ones that were truly absorbed in your material, or found the answer they were looking for, will actually get to the very bottom of your article. It isn’t surprising to see only 5% of visitors getting halfway down a web page, just because there wasn’t anything interesting enough to keep them reading. Look at it in one of two ways – You got a click and some earnings so be happy, or alternatively you got a click and some earnings, so be happy.

Visitors are important to every website

Anyway, it is fair to say that you have an idea of what appeals to the person that gets to the bottom of your post (ie. they like reading about what you wrote about) so put an ad or a set of links at the bottom of your posts that are relevant to content in the post. You can rely on adsense, or as you should find that the clicks through these sites are good converters, you could consider displaying ads from specific companies, offered by Affiliate Marketing Networks.

Affiliate Networks versus Google Adsense

As these clicks are more likely to spend money at the end of their journey, there is a good chance that you will make more money from affiliate commission than you would with a quick ad click. This is definitely something to consider and monitor as you grow.
